| The Adam's apple is named after Adam, who the Bible says was one of the first two people on the earth (along with Eve, his mate). The legend is that Adam ate some forbidden fruit from the Garden of Eden and a piece of it got stuck in his throat. That throat bulge has been with men forever, supposedly to show that men can be weak and give in to temptation. |

| The medical explanation for Adam's apple is that men have stronger larynx muscles, hence deeper voices, and the Adam's apple is where those muscles are stored. |
