| Shouldn't purdha be banned..?? |
I think, this would be regarded an outrageous and unwarrented question, but it is not so..
My concerns lie in the fact that the purdha forms an "image" of feminity in the minds of people who wear them and who interact with people wearing them, where the female comes to be regarded as inferior being..
Even if those very same women protest about a ban on purdhas, if we have an intent towards emancipation of women, these "instruments" which unconsciously forms a degraded image of women in the human mind (looking at it from a psychological perspective) should be removed.. |

For muslim religion (mostly), pardha is a religious symbol. Jews and Christians are also believe in head wearing cloths(pardhas). In their concept it may be right.
In modern world, due to the western culture, everybody is against this concept. So those who are interested in wearing pardhas may continue and we can exit. |

But i honestly feel that religion has a purpose and only one purpose, to bring harmony to the society.. These kinds of costumes like head bands, caps, purdhas, cloaks etc. tend to make a psychological distinction between the wearer and the others..
Let me put it like this; religion is a rolling stone, which was set rolling in early days in the spirit of social harmony..
And as it rolled through ages, it gathered dust.. And that dust includes all these kinds of notions like religious symbols, clothes, wiered concepts like sex is a sin, etc..
The dust came to be covered in further and further dust, some people even don't realise that it is indeed dust and not something part of the kernel of the religion..
I do believe, that it is the duty of responsible citizens, to purify and sanctify religion by removing all that dust..
And i do believe that, if that dust is removed, you will see that all religion have a single perfectly identical kernel - The well being of society..

The tough question is, how many people will dare to attempt to cleanse that horrendous amount of dirt that has become so strongly cemented to the purer kernel over the generations (Thanks to many self proclaimed religious leaders.. ;) ) |
